International Student Experience Fund (ISEF)

Note: The International Student Experience Fund (ISEF) application period has closed for 2023–24.

Important Note: The Faculty of Arts & Science requires applicants confirm decanal approval prior to submitting any application to the Office of the Vice-President, International (OVPI). Please see below for more details.

ISEF supports two streams of funding:

  • Seed Grants: $5,000–$15,000 per year, for up to 2 years
  • Impact Grants: $15,001–$75,000 per year, for up to 2 years

Arts & Science Support and Process

Arts & Science faculty members, staff and units who wish to apply for an ISEF Seed or Impact Grant are asked to follow the process outlined below. During the review process, we will work with applicants to:

  • Strategize and help align their project with A&S priority areas, departmental goals, project goals, and ISEF criteria;
  • Develop a detailed budget and project timeline;
  • Provide editorial feedback on their draft proposal;
  • Connect applicants to key staff and faculty members who can further support their project; and
  • Coordinate decanal review, including letters of support.

A&S Application Process

Seed Grant Proposal Process Deadline
Please submit a brief description of the proposed project or a draft of the ISEF template proposal form to international.artsci@utoronto.ca. The dean’s office will review and provide feedback to assist you in the application process.
Submit your finalized proposal to international.artsci@utoronto.ca to formally request written decanal approval of your application. Once written approval has been provided, then submit the final proposal to OVPI (via the online form). Applications are accepted on a rolling basis

 

Impact Grant Proposal Process Deadline
If you would like preliminary feedback or input on your concept, please email international.artsci@utoronto.ca.
Please submit your draft letter of intent to international.artsci@utoronto.ca. Friday, September 22, 2023
The Office of the Dean provides feedback to applicants to assist in the application process. Friday, September 29, 2023
Applicants submit a finalized letter of intent to international.artsci@utoronto.ca to formally request written decanal approval. Friday, October 6, 2023
Once written approval has been provided, applicants then submit final letter of intent to OVPI. Monday, October 16, 2023
If a letter of intent is successful, OVPI will contact applicants directly inviting them to submit a full draft proposal. To be confirmed
Invited applicants submit a full draft proposal to international.artsci@utoronto.ca for preparation of a decanal letter of support. To be confirmed
The Office of the Dean will provide a letter of support. To be confirmed
Applicants submit final proposals online to OVPI. Monday, January 22, 2024
