Research on microplastic pollution has focused on the ocean, but Chelsea Rochman of the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology is calling for more research into microplastic pollution in lakes, streams, rivers and on land.
“Microplastic research must be global and include a greater understanding of the scale, fate, and effects of microplastic pollution at all stages, from its sources via freshwater and terrestrial ecosystems to its ocean sink.”
