Description
Join the John M. Kelly Library and the University of St. Michael’s College community for an evening lecture and reception as we celebrate the reopening of the Kelly Library’s Print Studio. We will mark the occasion with a guest lecture by Professor Angela Esterhammer and with printing demonstration by Kit MacNeil, Printer at Massey College and current guest lecturer in St. Mike’s Book and Media Studies program.
Professor Esterhammer’s lecture is titled “Stranger than Fiction: Scottish Emigrants and Print Culture in the 1820s.”
The Kelly Library’s Print Studio is a letterpress print shop dedicated to experiential learning in the book arts. With its collection of 19th and 20th century printing presses and type, the Print Studio offers students a hands-on opportunity to learn the intricacies of letterpress printing and design.
Through the generous support of the Friends of the Kelly Library and the USMC Office of the Principal, the Print Studio has been expanded and is now ready to host all manner of students interested in learning about the book arts.
Space is limited. Please RSVP to attend.
