Description

To celebrate Black History Month, Faculty of Arts & Science's Dean Melanie Woodin invites you to this special lecture event with distinguished Harvard historian Professor Vincent Brown. Professor Melanie Newton from U of T's Department of History will facilitate questions.

The Jamaican Coromantee War of 1760-1761 shows how the turmoil of enslavement, which ruptured systems of social authority and cultural continuity among Africans, figured in the development of enslaved militancy as it originated, traveled, took root and germinated in far-flung contexts.
