Assistant Professor, Department of Physics

Zhan Su.

Zhan Su is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics. Su specializes in theoretical and computational physics of fluid dynamics, particularly nonlinear turbulence in the ocean. He applies quantitative analysis, mainly mathematical modeling, programming and analytical/statistical techniques, to study the mechanism behind stochastic systems such as stochastic eddy motions, nonlinear turbulence, and convection.

Su earned his PhD at Caltech and has been a NASA Postdoctoral Fellow at NASA and a postdoctoral researcher at MIT.

Su has been awarded the NASA Outstanding Postdoctoral Research Award by NASA /JPL, the Discovery Grants by NSERC, the NASA Postdoctoral Fellowship by NASA, the Yuxiang Young Scholar Award by COAA, and the Editors’ Citation for Excellence in Refereeing by the American Geophysical Union. Su has published more than 15 research publications.
