Yanyou Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics.
Chen’s research focuses on questions in the field of empirical industrial organization (IO). He also studies issues at the intersection of IO and other applied microeconomics topics such as environmental economics. In his research, he uses large micro-datasets, structural models and other quantitative methods. Chen's work is motivated by a desire to understand the effects of competition and how policies alter these effects in different industries.
Chen earned his PhD in 2020 from Duke University. Prior to that, he was an undergraduate student at the University of Hong Kong.
