A&S Winter Term Update from Dean Woodin

January 19, 2022 by A&S News

Dear A&S students, faculty, and staff,

The Provost recently provided a Winter Term update regarding the University’s plans to return to more in-person teaching and activities on our three campuses over the coming weeks, beginning on Monday, February 7, 2022. I am writing to provide you with an update specific to the Faculty of Arts & Science.

In A&S, we look forward to being back in our classrooms and will follow a similar transition plan as we did in September at the start of the academic year.

When we begin our return to in-person learning on February 7, we will continue to provide students with remote access to their undergraduate courses until Friday, February 18. Reading Week then takes place from February 21 to 25. After Reading Week, classes that are identified as taking place in person will proceed in person beginning on Monday, February 28.

Before February 7, instructors will let students know if their courses will take place in person with remote access to course components, or if their courses will be entirely online during the transition period.

I hope this transition alleviates potential pressure for everyone and helps those international students who are still out of the country and would benefit from additional travel time to return to Toronto.

Graduate units and instructors will also communicate directly with graduate students regarding their courses.

As always, please continue to monitor the University’s UTogether updates and the A&S website for current information, resources, and answers to frequently asked questions.

I greatly appreciate your patience in receiving this update and want to express my deep appreciation for the strength and determination you continue to demonstrate. We all hoped this year would run more smoothly, and yet we find ourselves pivoting once again. I recognize how challenging these transitions are for students, staff, and faculty, and I encourage each of us to continue supporting one another.

Regards,

Dean Woodin
