General Admission Requirements

  • Applicants from other Canadian provinces must have completed their high school diploma with Grade 12 subjects or equivalents, including English.
  • Within these admission categories, some programs of study may require additional Grade 12 subjects or equivalents as prerequisites for specific courses in first year or for entry into a specific program in second year.
  • Supplemental applications are required for admission to the Computer Science and Rotman Commerce admission categories.
  • Detailed information on completing your application is available on our How to Apply page.

The minimum admission averages shown below are recommendations only. Meeting them does not guarantee admission.

If a Grade 12 prerequisite course is in progress and the final grade is not yet available, the corresponding Grade 11 mark may be considered when reviewing for an early offer of admission.

What to Know Before You Apply

  • Conditional offers of admission are based on available Grade 11 and 12 (or equivalent) grades, considering the applicant is enrolled in the required Grade 12 (or equivalent) courses.
  • If a Grade 12 grade in a prerequisite subject is not available, the mark from the corresponding Grade 11 course may be used for early offers of admission, where applicable.
  • All offers of admission are conditional upon receipt of the required documents outlined in the offer of admission.
  • Some admission categories may fill up early. Preference is given to applicants with the strongest overall qualifications, with emphasis on:
    • Marks from the most recent two years of study, including grades in prerequisite courses;
    • The strength of the supplemental application, where applicable.
  • Applicants selecting the Computer Science or Rotman Commerce admission categories have the option to choose a second admission category on the JOIN U of T portal.
  • Selecting a second admission category does not affect eligibility for the first-choice category.
  • Admission to the second-choice category is subject to space availability and will be evaluated only after all first-choice applicants have been considered.
  • Please note: Choosing an alternate admission category does not automatically guarantee admission to the second-choice program.

English Language Proficiency

  • If English is not your first language (i.e., not the language learned at home as a child), you must provide proof of English proficiency for admission, unless you qualify for an exemption.
