International Baccalaureate (IB)

General Admission Requirements

  • An International Baccalaureate Diploma, the IB Certificate, is not sufficient for admission consideration. 
  • Standard Level (SL) or Higher Level (HL) English is required.
  • A predicted score of 28 or more is required for a provisional offer of admission. More competitive programs require a higher predicted score. 
  • Prerequisite courses can be presented at SL or HL. 
  • Within these admission categories, some programs of study may require additional high school subjects as prerequisites for specific courses in first year or for entry into a specific program in second year.   
  • Supplemental applications are required for admission to the Computer Science and Rotman Commerce admission categories

New IB Mathematics courses with first assessment in May 2021 

The following IB Math courses will satisfy the Calculus prerequisite for science and business programs: 

  • Mathematics: Applications and Interpretations HL 
  • Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches SL 
  • Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL 

Math Applications and Interpretations SL will not be acceptable to satisfy the Calculus requirements. Applicants who completed the IB curriculum before 2021 may present Mathematics SL or HL to satisfy the Calculus prerequisite. Math Studies will not satisfy this prerequisite.  

 

Transfer Credit

  • If you have taken any IB HL subjects, you are eligible to receive transfer credits for first-year course equivalents for Higher Level (HL) subjects where a final grade of at least 5 is achieved. No transfer credit is awarded for Standard Level (SL) exams.  

 

English Language Proficiency

  • If your first language is not English, you may be required to present proof of  English language proficiency.  
  • You can satisfy the English language proficiency requirement if you have a minimum score of at least 4 (predicted or final) in Higher or Standard Level English A: Literature or English A: Language and Literature. HL English B is not acceptable.
