Pedagogical Funding

The A&S Teaching & Learning team can help instructors and units select the best pedagogical funding opportunity for projects and develop proposals and related budgets:

  • Pedagogical Innovation and Experimentation Fund: Supports innovative undergraduate teaching and learning in academic units. Funds are allocated directly to each unit to support unit-level priorities that enhance undergraduate education.
  • Pedagogical Research Grant: Supports instructor-led projects that focus on inquiry or research into teaching, pedagogical approaches or student learning; and/or dissemination of pedagogical research findings.

Experiential Learning Initiatives

  • Arts & Science Internship Program (ASIP): A structured work-integrated learning opportunity for students in eligible programs.
  • Curriculum-Integrated Experiential Learning: Curricular activities in which students purposefully apply their disciplinary knowledge through real-world projects and experiences.
  • Indigenous Experiential Learning Fund: Supports the development of partnerships between A&S instructors and Indigenous communities, Indigenous-related curricular experiential-learning opportunities for students, and greater access to curricular experiential learning for Indigenous students.
  • International Course Module Program: Allows faculty members to take a group of students on a reading week trip as part of a course.
  • Research Excursions Program: Funds off-campus, faculty-member-led research projects for upper-year undergraduate students.
  • Research Opportunities Program: Engage second- and third-year undergraduate students in your research projects.
  • The Sandbox: Partners multiple instructors and their students with the same external organization to create multifaceted solutions for real-world challenges while fostering multidisciplinary skills and connections.
  • University of Siena Faculty Exchange Opportunity: An exchange opportunity is available to a University of Toronto faculty member from the Faculty of Arts & Science to go to the University of Siena, Italy.

University of Toronto Grants & Funding

Note: Applications for the following institutional grants require decanal endorsement. For more details, please review the information for each fund.

  • International Student Experience Fund: Supports academic and non-academic initiatives that enhance the experience of international students and foster intercultural exchanges between domestic and international students.
  • Learning and Education Advancement Fund: Supports projects that anticipate, leverage and create positive changes in undergraduate education.
  • Undergraduate Course Development Fund: Fosters ongoing, mutually beneficial teaching relationships between graduate-only divisions and divisions that offer undergraduate degree programs. Funding is provided to the graduate division to support their instructor teaching a course in the undergraduate division.
