A&S welcomes its newest faculty members

October 28, 2021 by A&S News

A dynamic and diverse group of new faculty members from areas of expertise across the humanities, sciences and social sciences has joined the Faculty of Arts & Science.

They are tackling some of today’s most pressing issues on topics such as how children and adults make sense of the world, the relationship between health and economic inequality, the politics of race and technology, and the question of how to improve accountability and performance in police agencies.

“Though the ongoing pandemic continues to create challenges on many fronts, one thing that has remained constant is our eagerness to welcome new faculty members,” said Melanie Woodin, dean of the Faculty of Arts & Science. “These exceptional individuals bring fresh perspectives to our students, each other, and to our vibrant academic community as a whole, and I look forward to connecting with all of them.”

This year’s cohort are leaders in a wide range of disciplines, including race and cultural studies, statistics, philosophy of science, East Asian studies, Indigenous studies, the study of religion, comparative literature, industrial relations, and diaspora and transnational studies.

Adds Woodin, “Without a doubt, all are poised to make incredible contributions to our core mission of research, scholarship, and engaging and inspiring teaching.”

Profiles of many of the new faculty members have been published on our website to introduce them and their specialties to the wider A&S community.
