Patterns from Nature: A multimedia experience of physics, film and music
When and Where
Description
Journey through nature’s wonders with Patterns from Nature, an immersive multimedia experience merging physics, film, and music.
Department of Physics Professor Emeritus Stephen Morris’s research on emergent patterns in nature – the mesmerizing phenomena of branches, flow, cracks and ripples – comes to life in this four-movement, 40-minute work from acclaimed composer and saxophonist Quinsin Nachoff and filmmakers Udo Prinsen, Gita Blak, Lee Hutzulak and Tina de Groot.
With captivating visuals set to a composition that blends jazz and classical elements, the performance features a chamber ensemble and renowned soloists: clarinetist François Houle, the Molinari String Quartet, pianists Matt Mitchell and Santiago Leibson, bassist Carlo De Rosa, drummer Satoshi Takeishi and trombonist Ryan Keberle.
