Faculty Profile: Brian Wilson

Brian Wilson

Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, Department of Physics

Brian WilsonBrian Wilson is an assistant professor, teaching stream in the Department of Physics. He studies general relativity, looking specifically at how to turn perturbations into exact solutions to increase the number of known exact solutions. He began teaching as a sessional lecturer in 2010, first at the University of Toronto Scarborough and later at the St. George campus, where he has taught full-time since 2022. Since 2018 he has been primarily concerned with questions of pedagogy and physics education research. His main goal here has been to determine if and how second and third-year labs can be improved to facilitate learning, in order to best prepare students for the advanced fourth-year labs and experimental research in general. Wilson received a PhD in astrophysics from the University of Toronto in 2009.
