Maggie Reid, the first-ever journalism fellow at the Jackman Humanities Institute has a launched a new podcast series “lower case truth” that examines the current ‘post-truth era.’ Her most recent episode asks: “What’s the deal with SNC-Lavalin? Is it really a scandal?” In future podcasts Reid will explore knowledge vs. belief, the rise of alt-right extremism, the war on drugs, meritocracy, Indigenizing education and climate change, and the death of ‘objectivity’ in journalism. The Jackman Humanities Institute advances scholarship at the University of Toronto by creating new networks — both physical and virtual — for interaction among humanities scholars, regardless of their discipline. At the heart of the Jackman Humanities Institute is its Circle of Fellows, a group of scholars at every level from undergraduate to faculty, who are chosen for the excellence of their research and for its relevance to the Annual Theme.
