Professor Antone is a member of the Oneida of the Thames First Nation — Turtle Clan and an esteemed Indigenous Knowledge Keeper. She was appointed Special Advisor on Indigenous Affairs in November 2019 and serves as Elder for the Dean’s Advisory Committee on Indigenous Teaching and Learning within the Faculty of Arts & Science. In this role, she advises the Dean and academic leadership on matters related to Indigenous education and engagement.

Professor Antone previously served as Director of the Indigenous Studies Program and Centre for Indigenous Studies. Her academic career includes appointments in the Department of Adult Education, Community Development, and Counselling Psychology, as well as the Transitional Year Programme.

A respected and esteemed voice in Indigenous education, Professor Antone specializes in Indigenous literacy, knowledge systems, and ways of being, and champions the integration of Indigenous perspectives within academic and community contexts.
