The Associate Dean, Student Affairs works closely with colleagues in student affairs at the Colleges, academic units, student groups, and the Office of the Faculty Registrar to create a positive experience for all undergraduate Arts & Science students.

Biography

Professor Suzanne Wood completed four years of postdoctoral research at Columbia University before joining the Department of Psychology in 2014 as a teaching-stream faculty member.

In the classroom, Wood teaches courses related to behavioural neuroscience and psychopharmacology. Outside of the classroom, she works directly with undergraduate researchers on topics related to student learning and health, including the use of study drugs and psychedelics as cognitive enhancers.

Wood has received several small grants in support of her research pursuits from the Faculty of Arts & Science as well as from the Society for the Teaching of Psychology. In recognition of these efforts, she was the recipient of the 2019–20 University of Toronto Early Career Teaching Award.

Wood has also contributed to the university through a variety of administrative positions, including the Faculty of Arts & Science Committee on Standing, the University of Toronto Academic Board of the Governing Council, the Committee on Academic Policy & Programs, and served as the associate chair, undergraduate for the Department of Psychology.

Wood grew up in San Diego, California and attended UC Berkeley on a Regents’ Scholarship, completing her undergraduate degree with a major in classical languages and a minor in music. She moved back to San Diego for her graduate work, attaining a PhD in psychology and cognitive science, specializing in behavioural neuroscience, from UC San Diego.
