Peace, joy and good health: Dean Woodin’s holiday message to the Arts & Science community

December 4, 2023 by A&S News

Hello everyone,

It's hard to believe we are at the end of another year. It feels like just yesterday I was welcoming new students at orientation, and re-connecting with returning students, staff and faculty on the steps of Sid Smith as the fall colours emerged.

I am continually inspired by our Arts & Science community — rarely does a day go by that I don’t meet a student who is wise beyond their years, hear about a touching act of kindness from our dedicated staff, or marvel at the pedagogical and scholarly innovation by our faculty. I’m also very grateful for the ongoing support from Arts & Science alumni, donors and partners.

Thanks to each of you for making Arts & Science such a vibrant community.

While there has been much to celebrate this term, it’s also been a difficult time on campus and around the world. And that is why it’s more important now than ever that we come together. The arrival of 2024 will bring new opportunities for us to seize, but also new challenges for us to tackle, and our success in doing so will depend on our mutual support and respect for one another.

As the holiday season approaches, I encourage you to reflect, recharge and spend time with friends and family.

To our talented and dedicated students with exams just around the corner, please know I am sending my positive thoughts your way and wish you all success.

Have a wonderful holiday!

I look forward to connecting with you in 2024.
