Several Arts & Science alumni grace the first-ever Toronto-focused “30 under 30” list published by Forbes magazine.
“Toronto, the pulse of Canada’s business and tech life, has been called the next Silicon Valley,” the magazine says. “It’s a city renowned for its entrepreneurial and multicultural spirit and world-class educational institutions, like the University of Toronto.”
Among the honourees is Bashir Khan. The A&S alum earned his bachelor of arts in 2018 as a member of New College. After graduating from U of T, the former captain of the Varsity Blues track and field team worked at NASA. Most recently, he is a co-founder of AirMatrix, a platform that automates commercial drone operation.
Other alumni on the list highlight U of T’s impact on a diverse group of entrepreneurs across a wide range of industries. They include:

- Mark Ang (BCom 2017), co-founder of GoBolt
- Alex Cui (MSc 2023), co-founder of GPTZero
- Francois Gouelo (BSc 2019) and Peter Sorbo, co-founders of Enso Connect
- Charlie Hua (BA 2020) and Frank Yu (BSc 2020, MSc 2022), co-founders of Myo Palate
- Christine Yuen (MScAC 2019), co-founder of Shakudo
