Xin (Mike) Bing
Assistant Professor, Department of Statistical Sciences
Xin Bing is an assistant professor in the Department of Statistical Sciences. He received a BSc in mathematics from Shandong University, China, and an MSc in statistics from the University of Washington, Seattle, before receiving his PhD from Cornell University.
Bing’s research focus lies in developing new methodology with theoretical guarantees to tackle modern statistical problems such as high-dimensional statistics, low-rank matrix estimation, multivariate analysis, model-based clustering, latent factor model, topic models, minimax estimation, high-dimensional inference, and statistical and computational trade-offs. He is also interested in applications of statistical methods to genetics, neuroscience, immunology and other areas.
He was recently awarded the 2021 Hsien and Daisy Yen Wu Scholarships and the 2021 IMS Lawrence D. Brown PhD Student Award.
