Christopher Fraser

Chris Fraser.Christopher Fraser is a professor in the Department of Philosophy and the Department of East Asian Studies and the Richard Charles and Esther Yewpick Lee Chair in Chinese Thought and Culture. He completed his undergraduate education at Yale University, his master’s degree at National Taiwan University and his PhD at the University of Hong Kong.

Fraser was previously professor and Chair of the Department of Philosophy at the University of Hong Kong. He specializes in Chinese philosophy, with a particular interest in how early Chinese theories of mind, knowledge and language intersect with contemporary epistemology, action theory and ethics.

He also works on the history of Chinese political thought and its contemporary implications. He is the author of several books and many journal articles and book chapters, including, recently, Late Classical Chinese Thought (Oxford, forthcoming), The Essential Mozi (Oxford, 2020), and The Philosophy of the Mozi (Columbia, 2016).
