Faculty of Arts & Science Funded Opportunities

Research Excursion Program

The Research Excursion Program (REP) gives faculty funding to involve upper-year undergraduate students on a faculty-led research project that takes place off-campus during the Summer term. REPs are supervised onsite by an Arts & Science faculty member.

Deadline for submission: January 15, 2021

COVID-19 Update: On April 1st 2020, the University announced that it is cancelling all future student activities outside of Canada. The restriction on university-sanctioned international travel has been extended until April 30, 2021. All approved REP courses that did not take place in summer 2020 will receive an automatic extension to the end of summer 2021. Please contact Christine Ovcaric at experientialsupport.artsci@utoronto.ca for any concerns or questions.

Research Opportunities Program

The Research Opportunities Program (ROP) gives faculty from across Arts & Science the chance to engage second- and third-year undergraduate students in their research projects. Faculty gain valuable research assistance and students develop research skills while earning course credit. Faculty members from divisions outside of Arts & Science who hold appointments on the St. George campus are also welcome to supervise Arts & Science students on ROP projects.

Deadline for Summer 2021 or Fall/Winter 2021-22 ROP project submission: January 15, 2021

Important Note: New for 2021-22 ROP projects, we are no longer collecting and adjudicating two rounds of applications. All applications must be submitted by the deadline outlined above and projects will be adjudicated together.

Visit the Research Opportunities Program page for further program and application details.
