Why have you decided to serve as a faculty or staff advisor for a SLC: I really enjoy working with students and this seemed like another great way to do that!

One piece of advice for a second-year student: Get involved in the U of T community - there are so many student groups to connect with and contribute to (there's even a student organization portal)

Hobby or interest: I have three young kids, so my hobbies end up being whatever they're into at any given moment!

Department: School of the Environment

Title: Undergraduate Administrator

How long have you worked for your current department and/or U of T: Five years at U of T; 1.5 years at the School of the Environment

Your undergraduate major/specialist and institution: Psychology and Environmental Studies, University of Toronto

Hometown: Toronto, ON

Why have you decided to serve as a faculty or staff advisor for a SLC: As an alumna and having worked with undergraduate students after the height of the pandemic, I know how hard it is to find a community and navigate such a large university. I am honoured and excited to serve as the staff advisor for the School's SLC to help second-year students build that needed community and source of support, promote resource- and opportunity-sharing within and outside of the School, and to help navigate our programs.

One piece of advice for a second-year student: Reach out to your program administrators! Your College Registrar is your main contact for advising and support, but your program administrators will have more information on opportunities and supports related to your studies, advice on what courses you can take that pertain to your interests, and can connect you with the program's student association.

Hobby or interest: Reading and trying different cafes around the city!

Program: Environmental Studies Major, Biodiversity and Conservation Biology Major, Philosophy Minor

Year: Second

College: Woodsworth College

Hometown: Bogotá, Colombia

An interesting fact: I absolutely LOVE cheese! It is my favorite food, and I can eat it at any meal, any day. Goat cheese and burrata are my weaknesses.

What do you like most about your studies: I love the holistic approach that the courses and programs have regarding the environment. I am deeply passionate about relations between the environment and different disciplines, so I am truly grateful to be able to learn about the environment through different lenses, including philosophy, geography, social sciences, and more.

Hobby or interest: I love martial arts, playing the violin, walking, reading and watching TV shows & movies! I am a pretty active person, so I love trying out many club sports around campus.

Program: Environmental Studies Major, Economics Major (Focus in Data Analytics)

Year: Three

College: Trinity College

Hometown: Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire

An interesting fact: I am currently working on finishing a novel and starting a digital comic!

What do you like most about your studies: What I enjoy most about Environmental Studies is how it connects different disciplines. I like looking into the history behind today’s environmental and energy systems because it helps explain the “why” behind the world we live in. I also love that the field is broad and brings together politics, economics, history and science all in one place.

Hobby or interest: My hobbies include writing, drawing, baking and playing video games (FF7 Remake is a current favourite!). I also enjoy trying new foods and visiting natural sites whenever I get the chance.
