Rodrigo Corrêa Rangel.

Rodrigo Rangel is an assistant professor of near-surface geophysics in the Department of Earth Sciences. He grew up in a small town named Iguape, on the coast of São Paulo state, Brazil. Rodrigo earned his BSc (2010) and MSc (2018) from the University of São Paulo, Brazil, and PhD (2022) from the University of Wyoming. Before joining U of T, he spent one year as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of São Paulo.

Rangel’s research focuses on investigating surface and subsurface hydrological processes in permafrost regions and their correlation to the carbon and water cycles, using a combination of noninvasive field geophysical methods, field observations, geophysical modelling, remote sensing and laboratory measurements. One of his overarching goals as a faculty member is to promote and support diversity, equity and inclusion in Earth sciences.
