Haley Zubyk is an assistant professor, teaching stream in the Human Biology Program in the Department of Cell & Systems Biology. She teaches courses on infectious diseases and human biology. She completed her PhD at McMaster University in the Department of Biochemistry and Biomedical Sciences, focusing on antibiotic discovery and resistance.
Zubyk’s teaching philosophy emphasizes active learning, fostering a safe and inclusive classroom environment, and promoting mental health through community building. Her research interests include improving undergraduate mental health, particularly for students in STEM programs, and designing innovative course-based undergraduate research experiences to provide students with hands-on research opportunities.
