Freid Tong
Assistant Professor, Department of Mathematics
Freid Tong is an assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics. He holds a PhD from Columbia University and an undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto. Tong was a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University and the Simons Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute in Berkeley, California before returning to U of T as an assistant professor.
His research interest is in complex geometry and nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs), studying the geometry of complex manifolds through solutions of PDEs on them. Tong is interested in developing robust analytic tools for analyzing these PDEs to obtain new geometric information.
