Andreas Winkler

Andreas Winkler is an assistant professor in the Department of Near & Middle Eastern Civilizations who specializes in the history and philology of Greco-Roman and Late Antique Egypt. Winkler’s research involves preparing editions of Egyptian texts, primarily Demotic and Coptic manuscripts, and studying topics such as the history of science, particularly the astral sciences and social history. Winkler has also worked with other areas of ancient Egyptian culture, such as religious practices and onomastics across the entire span of Egyptian history.
Winkler received his PhD from the University of Uppsala.
