Currently, IT support in the Faculty is a hybrid model comprised of three layers: central University Information Technology Services (ITS) including teaching technology, administrative systems and the Information Commons Help Desk for student, faculty and staff wireless and email ( support; Arts & Science division‐wide IT; and existing departmental (local) IT support teams who focus on local academic needs.

With 3 core IT functions (Infrastructure-Server/Networking; Client Services Teaching Technology and End User Support; Applications & Development), the Faculty’s newly formed Information and Instructional Technology (IIT) unit provides divisional IT support for the Dean’s Office and academic units, in particular the Humanities and Social Sciences.

IIT is also working to identify opportunities for Faculty-wide technology standardization including: desktop management, data center and research strategy; teaching technology support;collaborative technology support and Faculty-wide application development; planning the roll-out and support normalization for new ITS initiatives such as the Learning Management Engine (i.e. Quercus), VoIP and Microsoft 365 (email, calendaring, collaborative technologies); and, through continued dialogue, unifying IT teams who aim to serve the Faculty with focus on service reviews, risk reduction, strategic planning, and consistent and sustainable technology delivery.
