English Language Preparation

Are you required to present proof of English facility?

If English is not your first language and you have studied for fewer than four full years in an English language environment, you may be required to submit proof of English facility. For a complete outline of the requirements, accepted tests and expected scores see the Future U of T website.

International Foundation Program

For students whose English skills do not meet the University's entrance requirements but are otherwise qualified, the Faculty of Arts & Science offers the International Foundation Program (IFP).

The program combines conditional acceptance to the Faculty of Arts & Science with intensive English language instruction. Successful completion of the International Foundation Program will guarantee admission to the Faculty of Arts & Science with one full credit.

Students must have demonstrated superior academic performance and be graduating from an international high school or have studied in the Canadian school system for less than four years.
