Students at the School of the Environment pursue environmental studies programs that integrate scientific, social, political and ethical environmental perspectives, transcending traditional disciplinary boundaries.
Students learn how to conduct qualitative and quantitative research, rigorously assess scholarly arguments, and frame their responses to problems.
Arts & Science Internship Program (ASIP) students receive extensive professional and skill development training and supports through the ASIP supplementary curriculum.
What Can Our Students Offer?
Skills and competencies differ by program. Students participate in the ongoing development of interdisciplinary knowledge, which grows through years two and three.
By the End of Second Year:
- Comprehensive understanding of addressing environmental issues from an interdisciplinary perspective
- Significant qualitative skills (BA programs)
- Basic lab skills in biology, chemistry and physics (BSc programs)
By the End of Third Year:
- Enhanced oral and communication skills, as well as secondary research skills
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Knowledge competency in some or all of politics, policy, social justice, environmental thought and economics (BA programs), and lab and field skills, as well as an interdisciplinary understanding of environmental science (BSc programs)
