Naomi Levy-Strumpf is an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, in the Human Biology Program.
Levy-Strumpf started teaching in the Human Biology Program in the summer of 2016. She uses her extensive research experience to teach classical and applied genetics courses, with strong emphasis on current innovative genome engineering or genome editing techniques in basic research and in the field of translational medicine.
She received her PhD from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel. During her PhD she investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying cell growth control and programmed cell death. She then joined the Lunenfeld Tanenbaum Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital where she investigated patterning of neuronal networks using the roundworm C. elegans as a model system. Her work mainly focused on deciphering how signaling networks interact to generate polarity in cell migration, axon guidance and cell invasion.
