About WIT

WIT aims to improve undergraduate writing instruction across the Faculty of Arts & Science. WIT does this by helping course instructors design assignments that teach students essential research and writing skills and by providing training and mentoring to course TAs.

Because TAs work so closely with students, they are ideally positioned to help undergraduate students learn to write. Providing graduate teaching assistants specialized training and support in writing instruction helps more students to engage with and contribute to disciplinary knowledge. From learning how to formulate a hypothesis and write lab reports in biology and chemistry to how to develop arguments from sound evidence in anthropology, WIT is helping A & S students develop the discipline-specific writing skills they need to be successful in a variety of disciplines.

WIT is a writing across the disciplines (WAC) or writing in the disciplines (WID) program based on these principles.
