Wednesday, November 11: “Virtual Monday” or “Wacky Wednesday”

To compensate for the Thanksgiving Monday holiday, and so to ensure an equal number of teaching days in each session regardless of which day of the week a course is taught, this year we will be doing something different for one day in the Fall Term. On Wednesday, November 11, 2009, courses with a class meeting on Mondays will meet at the usual hour on that Wednesday, as though it were Monday; normal Wednesday classes will not be held.

This means:

  • Courses taught only on Wednesday will not meet Wednesday, November 11.
  • Courses taught only on Monday will meet both Monday, November 9, and Wednesday, November 11 at their normal Monday hour.
  • Courses taught on Monday and Tuesday will meet Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday that week.
  • Courses taught on both Mondays and Wednesdays will not notice any difference on Wednesday, November 11.

"Wacky Wednesday' is a regularly-scheduled day of classes and students are expected to attend. If you have any problems with attendance on this day, you should discuss this with your instructor well in advance.

If you have a lab or a tutorial that meets on a Monday, consult the department or your instructor to see if it will meet on Wednesday, November 11. For certain courses cross-listed with other faculties/divisions, the Arts & Science course listing may in fact adhere to the academic calendar of the other faculty/division, in which case you will need to follow the schedule communicated to you in the class materials by your instructor.

Some classes may have to relocate to a different room on Wednesday, November 11 to avoid conflicts. Check the list below for courses taught and locations.
