MA in English in the Field of Creative Writing Scholarship

Launched in 2004, the MA in English in the Field of Creative Writing is an elite, two-year academic graduate program located in the vibrant intellectual and creative milieu of Canada’s leading university. Here, promising young writers have the opportunity to be mentored by faculty who are among our nation’s most prominent writers and literary scholars. Upon graduation, students will have completed a publishable work. What is truly unique about the program is that it is designed both to prepare participants for careers as professional writers and to qualify academically those wishing to pursue further graduate studies.

The MA in English in the Field of Creative Writing program is solidifying its position as an exceptional and unique program in Canada that produces stellar writers and scholars. For this reason, we have set up the Emerging Writers Scholarship Fund. This fund will allow gifted young poets, fiction writers and playwrights to focus their energies on their writing, and to take full advantage of U of T’s intellectual resources.

Graduates are already earning a national and international profile on the strength and originality of their literary work.
