Scott Rayter, associate director of the Mark S. Bonham Centre for Sexual Diversity Studies, and Dina Georgis, assistant professor for the Women and Gender Studies Institute, were quoted in an article in the Toronto Star about the comments actress Cynthia Nixon made about choosing to be gay and how people are afraid of bisexuality.

"Gay people often suggest they are just afraid to come out of the closet. They can’t commit," says Rayter.

Georgis grees with Rayter that women “have been given permission to have more fluid attractions," but applauds Nixon's statement, saying "If Nixon doesn’t want to call herself a bisexual, that’s all right. I think a lot of people in sexual studies celebrate what she did."
