English professor and associate chair Nick Mount has been named the new Fiction Editor of general interest magazine The Walrus. The 3M National Teaching Fellow has graced the pages of the magazine before with an article titled "What Thunder Bay Burned: And How Lady Chatterley Wrote Our Obscenity Law" in the January/February 2010 issue and a 2008 essay called "The Renaissance of Cute," which won a silver National Magazine Award.

Mount spoke with the National Post about the news: "Serving as their fiction editor is for me an extension of what I already try to do in the classroom: introducing readers to the best writers of our time and place. Yes, I’m insanely busy as it is, but the work overlaps in interesting ways. And it’s not work when you love it."
