January 23, 2012 – IN THE NEWS: Lorna O'Brien on tulip animal for Quirks and Quarks

Lorna O’Brien, a PhD candidate in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, was interviewed on CBC's Quirks and Quarks about the tulip animal discovered from fossils at the Middle Cambrian Burgess Shale in the Canadian Rockies.

"It's certainly an enigmatic animal, and it's difficult to try to piece together what this animal could have been," she said. She later continued: "It's surprising how fine the details are. Under the microscope, [the details] just come to life and they are absolutely beautiful in preservation."
