Research in Israel Program

Application Details

The Faculty of A&S has funding available for students studying and conducting research in Israel, such as the Canadian Friends of Hebrew University Award (CFHU) and the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Student Award in Israeli Studies (ACB). For 2019, A&S is piloting a Research in Israel Program for both undergraduate and graduate students to better connect students to these opportunities with the added benefit of a two-week orientation program May 12 – May 25, 2019 at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Proposal Requirements

Activities are for Faculty of Arts and Science graduate and undergraduate degree students. Students must be in good standing and currently enrolled in an academic program at the time the proposed activity takes place. Students must work with a faculty advisor with a continuous appointment to the Faculty of Arts & Science (St. George).

Please submit a proposal using the appropriate online form below, taking into consideration the following criteria:

Applications are due March 22, 2019.

Students are invited to apply to either the CFHU Award or the Bronfman Award, indicating their interest in the Research in Israel Program on the provided forms. The Research in Israel Program funds student activities for the 2019-20 academic year. The general assumption is that the funded activity will take place within the fiscal year under consideration, although some flexibility regarding timing may be allowed.

Students interested in conducting research in Israel during the summer will work with an academic advisor in the Faculty of A&S to develop an individual research plan that will then be combined with a two-week orientation program based at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. This research experience can be combined with course work in the Fall. Please be sure to include the name and contact details of your academic adviser on your application form.

All individuals whose proposals are approved are required to submit a summary report to the Dean detailing the success of the project and its outcome upon completion of the project or by September 1, 2020.
