School of the Environment

Alexander B. Leman Memorial Award

  • Established by the Lemans in memory of Alexander B. Leman, Ing.Arch., FRAIC, FRSA, (1926-2010) an architect and urban planner who founded his own architectural firm (1958) as well as Leman Group Inc., (1972) an urban development and planning consulting company. A Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and Fellow of the Royal Society for the Arts, London, UK, he served as President of the Ontario Association of Architects as well as President of the World Society for Ekistics.
  • It is awarded to a graduate student enrolled in the collaborative program at the School of the Environment and the Department of Geography's Program in Planning, based on academic merit and financial need.

 

Arthur and Sonia Labatt Fellowships

  • Established by the Arthur and Sonia Labatt Foundation and matched by OSOTF and the Endowed Adjustment Fund (EAF).
  • It is awarded to a Master’s or doctoral student in the School of the Environment on the basis of financial need and academic excellence where preference will be given to students who are exploring practical based solutions to environmental issues and/or examining the market place for solutions to environment issues. (OSOTF)

 

Dr. Ranbir Singh Khanna / Ontario Graduate Scholarship in the Environment (OGS)

  • Established by the Estate of Dr. Ranbir Singh Khanna.
  • It is awarded to an OGS recipient in the Faculty of Arts & Science.

 

Eric David Baker Krause Graduate Fellowship

  • Established through generous donations by the friends, family, and colleagues of Eric Krause and matched by the Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund (OSOTF).
  • It is awarded on the basis of financial need and academic excellence, to Master’s or doctoral candidates in the school who meet OSOTF guidelines where preference will be given to students who have obtained their undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto Division of the Environment.(OSOTF)

 

George Burwash Langford Graduate Scholarship

  • Established through the generous donations of the family, friends, and colleagues of George Burwash Langford.
  • It is awarded to a graduate student enrolled in a program offered by the School of the Environment, who combines excellence in research in environmental studies and contributes to the work of the school.

 

Marjorie Gillespie Bolton and Mabel Gillespie Norris Memorial Scholarship

  • Established through a generous gift from an anonymous donor
  • It is awarded annually to a graduate student at the University of Toronto with demonstrated financial need. The academic focus of the student will be in the area of sustainability, environmental justice, biodiversity, and/or conservation. Sperrin Chant Mesonic Award in Toxicology

  • Established through the generous donations of various donors and matched by OSOTF and EAF.
  • It is awarded to graduate students in the School of the Environment based on financial need where academic excellence and the character of applicants will also be taken into consideration.
