East Asian Studies

Chinese Canadian History and/or Culture Fellowship

  • Established by the Federation of Chinese Canadian Professionals (Ontario) Education Foundation.
  • It is awarded to a Masters or doctoral graduate student in the Department of East Asian Studies, on the basis of academic achievement, and whose studies focus on the culture and history of the Chinese Canadian community.

EAS Graduate Research Scholarship

  • Established through generous donation of various donors and matched by the Ontario Student Opportunity Trust Fund (OSOTF).
  • It is awarded to a graduate student in the Department of East Asian Studies. (OSOTF)  

Chikai and Sawa Hiraki Japanese Canadian Buddhist / Ontario Graduate Scholarship in the Department of East Asian Studies (OGS)

  • Established by Stanley Hiraki, George Hiraki, Joy Kamibayashi and Catherine Heike.
  • It is awarded to an Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) recipient in the Department of East Asian Studies.

Chizuru Suzuki Memorial Scholarship in Japanese Literature and Japanese Studies (Undergraduate or Graduate students)

  • Established by the family, friends, and associates of the late Ms. Chizuru Suzuki.
  • It is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student in a program offered by the Department of East Asian Studies. Selection based on academic performance in Japanese studies and activities promoting Japan Canada cultural ties. 

Chuk Ping Ho and Chiu Wing Ng / Ontario Graduate Scholarship in the Department of East Asian Studies (OGS)

  • Established by Ka Chai Casey Ho, Ka Shi Henry Ho, Ka Keung Keith Ho.
  • It is awarded to an OGS recipient in the Department of East Asian Studies.

Okamatsu Japanese Book Award (undergraduate or graduate students)

  • Established by Mr. Yoshihisa Okamatsu.
  • It is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student in Japanese studies, where preference will be given to graduate students.

Reverend Doctor James Scarth Gale Scholarship in East Asian Studies

  • Established by the Estate of George J.M. Gale.
  • It is awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student in support of his/her study or research in East Asian countries (China, Japan, Korea, etc), where academic merit is considered.

Ting Fang Chung Scholarships (undergraduate or graduate students)

  • Established by a bequest of the late Mr. Ting Fang Chung.
  • It is awarded to a student in the Department of East Asian Studies, to continue education at a university in China; or Chinese students resident in China, to continue education in the Department of East Asian Studies.
