Alumni Dissertation Award

  • Established through the generous donations of the alumni and friends of the Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies.
  • It is awarded up on completion of the requirements for the PhD with a degree from the Drama Centre, for graduation in November/March/June of each academic year. Vetting by a committee of three, struck by the director of the centre, and awarded to the best dissertation produced during that year by graduates with a PhD in hand.

Metal-Trebbin-De Boni / Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS) in the Graduate Centre for Study of Drama

  • Established by Professor Umbert De Boni.
  • It is awarded to an OGS recipient in the Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies.

Ronald Bryden Fellowships

  • Established through the generous donations of the family and friends of Ronald Bryden.
  • Ronald Bryden spent his professional life writing and teaching about theatre as a drama critic at The Observer; as dramaturge at the Royal Shakespeare Company, as a professor and Director of the Centre for Graduate Studies in Drama at the University of Toronto, on the boards of the Stratford and Shaw Festivals and the Canadian Stage Company, on the editorial board of Modern Drama, and finally as literary advisor to the Shaw Festival. Ron was the author of two collections of essays, The Unfinished Hero and Shaw and his Contemporaries, as well as numerous essays and reviews.
  • It is awarded to graduate students enrolled at the Graduate Centre for Drama, Theatre and Performance Studies and awarded on the basis of financial need.
