What is your favourite thing about the University of Toronto?

What I love about the University of Toronto is the extraordinary array of options available – what to study, how to get involved around campus, who to meet and befriend – and the amazing flexibility to choose any combination of those things!

What surprised you the most about university?

It’s incredibly freeing but also a little terrifying to suddenly find yourself in university with all this independence and freedom to learn and develop however you want. It’s easy to get lost (figuratively and literally!) but all you have to do is reach out to find a great support system waiting to help you out.

What unique learning opportunities have you participated in?

I’m currently in the Vic One Stowe-Gullen program. Vic One has been essential in easing the transition from high school to university as I’ve become a part of a wonderful community of past and present Vic One students. The Vic One classes consist of 25 students led by a group of incredible professors who really challenge you to see how intertwined all areas of knowledge are. Three out of five days a week, we are treated to fascinated lectures, stimulating discussions, and thought-provoking assignments in the classroom. I highly recommend any incoming first-years to join a First Year Foundation program!

My U of T is…

Developing! Over the next few years, I hope to develop a better understanding of the institution I now call home while also developing my understanding of myself. I can't think of a better place to learn more about the world and my place in it than at the University of Toronto!

What is your favourite thing about Toronto?

No matter how much (or how little!) time you’ve spent here in Toronto, it’s a city that will never cease to surprise you. There’s always a new nook or cranny to explore, incredible people to meet for the very first time, and tons of opportunities to be seized every single day.
