On-Campus Residence Options
All Faculty of Arts & Science students belong to one of seven colleges. All of the colleges offer residence accommodation. In most cases, students who choose to live on campus will live in one of their colleges' residence buildings.
More information about residence can be found on the Student Housing website, including the Residence Guide with information on all the housing options, including fees and amenities for each residence, for incoming students.
Apartment-Style Residences
Apartment-style residences are grouped together into self-contained 4 or 5 bedroom suites. Each suite has 1 to 2 washrooms, a full kitchen (which includes a refrigerator, self-cleaning stove and microwave oven - students must supply cookware, dishes and utensils), and a furnished living room.
The bedrooms are all single, private rooms with their own lock. Each bedroom includes a bed (with storage drawers), desk, desk chair, filing cabinet and ample closet space. All rooms are pre-wired with jacks for phone, cable TV and Internet services.
Apartment suites are always shared among same-sex residents.
Two colleges have apartment-style residences:
Dorm-Style Residences
Students living in dormitory-style residences will have a single or double (shared) room in a large residence hall. In your room you'll have a bed, desk, desk chair, a closet, and a study lamp.
Most dorm-style residences have common washroom facilities, which may be single-sex or co-ed.
Meal plans are required.
Dorm-style accommodation is provided by five colleges and Chestnut Residence:
- Chestnut Residence (Chestnut Residence houses students from all seven colleges as well as other faculties)
- New College Residence
- St. Michael's College Residence
- Trinity College Residence
- University College Residence
- Victoria College Residence
Residence Tours
Visiting a residence in person is the best way to get a feel for the accommodation style and living environment; to see when tours are available, look at the residence tour schedule or call the residence office of the college you are interested in visiting.
