What do Grammy award-winning singer Rihanna, Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt, Nobel prize-winning author VS Naipaul and legend Bob Marley have in common?

They all come from one of the island countries of the Caribbean, a fascinating region that includes Barbados (Rihanna), Jamaica (Bolt and Marley) Trinidad (Naipaul).

The Caribbean Studies Program, offered by New College at the University of Toronto,  brings an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the complexity of issues pertaining to Caribbean history, politics, culture and society, and to Caribbean peoples and their descendants in their second diasporic presences in North America, Europe and elsewhere.
