You are invited to visit the St. George (downtown) campus during March Break for the Faculty of Arts & Science's annual two-day Open House for prospective students, parents and friends. You will have the opportunity to speak with faculty, staff and current students from our programs, as well as attend presentations and tour our campus facilities -- including residences. Come and experience all that Arts & Science at U of T has to offer!

Transportation and Directions

  • Hart House is located at 7 Hart House Circle on the St. George Campus
  • Public transit is the best way to reach us. The closest subway stops are Queen's Park and Museum, while Spadina and St. George stations are also within easy walking distance. For detailed transit maps, fares and other information see the TTC web page
  • On-campus parking may be difficult to find as the university is in session during March Break.

When You Arrive

  • Your first stop should be Hart House, 7 Hart House Circle. We will greet you and direct you to program, college, and student life information booths.
  • The Academic Program Fair will open at 10:00 am. If you arrive on campus earlier, you may want to take advantage of a trolley tour of the campus or drop into the U of T Visitors' Centre at 25 King's College Circle. The first trolley tour will depart from Hart House at 9:30 am.
  • Campus walking tours begin at 10 am

FAQs

  1. Do I have to pre-register?
    Registration is strongly recommended, however you are not required to pre-register. Registration helps us plan a better event by giving us an idea of how many visitors to expect.
  2. What if I can't attend March Break Open House?
    If you are unable to attend we would be happy to meet you another day at your convenience. We offer daily campus tours, and our staff would be happy to answer your questions.
  3. Is there a meeting place when I arrive?
    The event takes place at Hart House, 7 Hart House Circle. There is no specific meeting point – once you enter Hart House you will be greeted by student volunteers who will explain the day to you and direct you to your preferred activities.
  4. Do I have to show up right at 10 am?
    Not necessarily. You will get more out of the event the earlier you arrive, as there are many tours and sessions to attend. Please note that the Program Fair takes place from 10 am to 12 noon, so if you want to speak directly with a program representative you should arrive by 11:30 am at the very latest.
  5. Where can I find an updated schedule of the day's events?
    March 15th and March 16th programs are available. Please note, programs are subject to change.
  6. How do I get there?
    The St. George Campus is situated in downtown Toronto and is well-served by the TTC.

  7. Where can I park?
    There are several paid parking garages on the St. George Campus.
  8. I have an accommodation need. How can I inform the event organizers of this?
    Please contact the Faculty of Arts & Science Student Recruitment Office to make arrangements. We suggest that you contact us as early as possible, and preferably two weeks prior to the event.
  9. Will there be food or refreshments?
    We are not able to provide refreshments for visitors as part of the event, but there are several food options close by, including Sammy's Student Exchange on the lower level of Hart House, and Sid's Southside Café in Sidney Smith Hall. In addition there is a Tim Horton's in the Medical Sciences Building, a Second Cup in Sidney Smith Hall, and a variety of restaurants on College St. as well as food trucks on St. George Street.
  10. Is there an admission fee?
    No. March Break Open House is free of charge to all visitors.
  11. Can I sit in on a class?
    We are not able to accommodate requests to visit a class during the Open House.
  12. I want to study an arts program – can I attend on the science day?
    You can certainly attend either or both days, however you will get more out of the experience if you attend on the day on which your preferred programs are represented.
  13. Will I be able to speak with current students?
    The Arts & Science team of student ambassadors will be on-hand to provide information about the day's activities, as well as to answer any questions you may have about student life at U of T.
  14. Will I be able to speak with a representative from my intended major?
    Yes. Representatives from Arts & Science programs will be available at the Program Fair, held each day from 10 am to 12 noon. Please note: humanities, social science and Rotman Commerce programs will be present on Thursday, March 15th; science programs (including psychology) will be featured on Friday, March 16th.
  15. Will I be able to speak with an admissions representative?
    Yes. Staff from the Admissions and Awards office will be available to answer general admissions questions at the Nona MacDonald Visitors Centre.
  16. Will I be able to see a residence?
    Yes. Colleges will be conducting tours of their residences from 12:15 to 3:30 pm both days. Please check the program for exact times.
  17. How long are the tours?
    Campus walking tours (departing from the Nona MacDonald Visitors Centre) and college residence tours (departing from Hart House) typically last about one hour. Trolley bus tours (departing from Hart House) are 30 minutes.
