General Admission Requirements for Transferring to the Faculty of Arts and Science

Transferring from Another University

  • Admission consideration is based on your post-secondary studies and your most recent annual average, although we will review your entire academic record.
  • If you are currently enrolled and have a strong academic record, you may be eligible for a provisional offer of admission to some program areas.
  • Applicants to limited enrolment programs must present the required first year university courses.  Degree requirements for all programs are outlined in the Arts and Science Calendar.
  • Successful applicants are admitted to a program area. Admission to a specific program is determined by the Faculty/Department once transfer credits have been assessed, and will depend on whether or not program prerequisites and grade requirements have been met.
  • Transfer credits are assessed after admission has been decided. Credits are considered for degree courses taken at recognized degree-granting institutions. More information will be provided at the time of admission.
  • If you already hold a university degree, or have completed more than two years of university-level study at another university, you may only apply for degree studies in a different field. For instance, if you completed a degree in, or have majored in Economics, Management, Commerce or Business, you cannot apply for a Commerce or Management degree. If you are admitted to a different program, you will be considered for a maximum of five transfer credits (one full year) from your previous studies.
  • If you wish to take courses to qualify for a graduate program or other professional programs, you may want to consider applying as a Non-degree applicant.
