Brief History

The WIT project was piloted in 2008-2009 in response to the observation of the Curriculum Review and Renewal Committee (CRRC) that “a concerted effort is needed to integrate writing into the programs of study by providing support and training for instructors to develop appropriate program-specific writing instruction, and by training teaching assistants (TAs) to assist appropriately in this process” (pp. 23-24).

The project was first implemented in 2008-2009 in 6 academic units, expanded to 12 in 2009-2010, and then 13 in 2010-2011.
