Summer Abroad Program
Imagine earning a UofT credit while enjoying summer in places such as Europe, Africa, Hong Kong, or Australia. The Summer Abroad programs allow you to complete a full-year Arts & Science course overseas in 3-6 weeks.
This is a wonderful opportunity to enrich your studies by incorporating an international dimension into your education. The host site will become your “living textbook” as you observe and experience much of what you study, whether it is language, culture, art, politics, history, or business. All classes, with the exception of language courses, are taught in English.
In 2010, over 900 students will take part in one of 13 Summer Abroad programs:
- Australia: Sydney
- Central Europe: Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, and Poland
- China: Hong Kong
- China: Shanghai
- Ecuador: Amazon, Galápagos & Andes
- England: Oxford
- France: Tours
- Germany: Berlin
- Italy: Siena
- Japan: Tokyo
- Jordan: Madaba
- Kenya: Nairobi, Masai Mara, and Mombasa
- Southeastern Europe: Austria, Bosnia, Croatia and Slovenia
Substantial financial assistance is available to UofT students for most Summer Abroad programs. The deadline to apply for awards offered through Woodsworth College is February 1. Details are available on the Summer Abroad web site.
The application deadline for all programs is March 1; late applications will be accepted as time and space permit.
Some of the 2010 programs (Australia, Germany, and Italy) still have spaces left, but most are now full. Students interested in the 2011 programs should consider applying as early as possible; application forms will be available on the Summer Abroad web site during the first week in January.
