Undergraduate Scholarships: Statistical Sciences

Arthur F. Williams Scholarship in Actuarial Science (OSOTF-II)

  • Established through gifts from the Associates of the University of Toronto Inc., family, friends and former colleagues of A.F. Williams.
  • Awarded to a student who has completed ACT240H and 247H combined (or equivalent courses).  Financial need must be considered.  Academic performance will also be considered.

 

Bryson Scholarship in Actuarial Science
  • Established through a bequest of the late Florence Maye Bryson in memory of her late husband, Albert E. Bryson.
  • An outstanding student who has completed at least five full course equivalents from the Third and Fourth Years of the Specialist Program in Actuarial Science.  At least three full course equivalents must be in Actuarial Science.

 

Dr. James T. Phillips Honour Scholarship in Actuarial Science
  • Annual gift of the Associates of the University of Toronto Inc., in honour of Dr. James T. and Marjorie Phillips.
  • An outstanding student with the highest aggregate in two full course equivalents in Actuarial Science at the 300-level or higher.

 

Hewitt Associates Scholarship in Actuarial Science
  • Established by Hewitt Associates, two awards of equal value.
  • One award for a student entering third year and one award for a student entering fourth year.  Financial need will be considered as well as academic performance in the course required for the Specialist Program in Actuarial Science.

 

Laurence E. Coward Scholarship in Actuarial Science
  • Established by Mercer (Canada) Limited
  • Two awards of equal value, awarded to third year undergraduate students in the Actuarial Science Specialist or Major Program in the Department of Statistics on the basis of academic merit, financial need, and campus/community involvement, preferably in a leadership role.

 

Manulife Scholarship in Actuarial Science
  • Established by Manulife Financial.
  • To be awarded to a third year undergraduate student specializing in Actuarial Science in the Department of Statistics on the basis of academic merit, professional examination results and demonstrated leadership through participation in activities within the university or the community (e.g. athletics, volunteering, part-time work, music).

 

Munich Re Leadership Award

  • Established by Munich Reinsurance Company
  • To be awarded to a third year undergraduate student specializing in Actuarial Science in the Department of Statistics on the basis of academic merit, leadership and community involvement.

 

P. L. J. Ryall Scholarship
  • Colleagues and friends of Professor P. L. J. Ryall, a former faculty member in the Department of Statistics at the University of Toronto.
  • An outstanding student who has completed the Specialist Program in Actuarial Science with the highest cumulative GPA.

 

Samuel Beatty In-Course Scholarship
  • Established by the Samuel Beatty Fund and through donations from the family, friends and colleagues of Samuel Beatty.
  • (For II, III or IV) - To be awarded to students enrolled in a specialist program offered by the Departments of Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or Statistical Sciences, based on academic merit. Financial need will also be considered. Contact the Department of Statistical Sciences for the application and deadline.

 

Samuel Eckler Scholarship in Actuarial Science
  • Established by Eckler Partners Ltd in  honour of founding chairman, Samuel Eckler.
  • Awarded to an outstanding student in the Specialist Program in Actuarial Science who has an A average overall and who has received a mark of A in ACT 240F.

 

Statistics GRADitude Scholarship

  • GRADitude gifts from graduating students.
  • (For Any Year) - Student enrolled in a Major or Specialist program in the Department of Statistics.
