Undergraduate Scholarships: Drama

Arno Belger Travel Awards in Drama
  • Established by Pia Kleber.
  • (For Any Year) - Awarded to a student(s) enrolled in the Drama Program, to assist with the costs of travel in connection with the program. Financial need will be the primary criterion used in selecting recipients. Academic standing in the Program may also be a consideration. Awards will be made on the recommendation of the Director of the Drama Program.

 

Charles Osborn Moon and Martha Elizabeth Moon Scholarships
  • Established by Dr. Isobel Davidson Moon in honour of her parents.
  • (For Year I/II/III) - To be awarded to students completing their first, second, or third year in the Drama Program with distinction. Two scholarships are for students who have demonstrated in their studies in English or French a real love of the language and appreciation of its literature. The third scholarship should be awarded to a student in the Drama Program who has shown ability and special interest in a career in one of the practical and creative fields in theatre production.

 

Elizabeth Comper Scholarship
  • Established by the University of Toronto.
  • (For Any Year) - To be awarded to an outstanding student in the Drama Program.

 

Gladys Wookey Davis Scholarship Fund
  • Established by various donors.
  • (For Any Year) - Awarded to a student enrolled in the Drama Program to assist with the costs of travel in connection with the Program.

 

Helen Gardiner Phelan Playhouse Scholarships

  • Established at the Bequest of Helen Gardiner Phelan (UC’40) as well as contributions from friends and family.
  • (For Any Year) - To be awarded to students who have displayed excellent performance in the Drama Program.

 

John Wolfe McColl Memorial Award in Drama

  • Established by the Estate of the late John Wolfe McColl.
  • (For Year IV) - Student who is graduating with the highest cumulative GPA in the Specialist program in Drama or combined Specialist program in Drama and English.

 

J. P. Bickell Foundation Award in Drama

  • Established by the J. P. Bickell Foundation.
  • (For Any Year) - To be awarded to students enrolled in the Drama Program. Financial need will be the primary criterion in selecting recipients. Academic standing in the Program may also be considered. The awards are variable in size and number.

 

Pamela Terry Memorial Scholarship in Drama

  • Established by Larry Beckwith, Robin Jane Beckwith, Jonathan Lewis Beckwith (children of Pamela Terry) with further gifts from family and friends.
  • (For Any Year) - To be awarded to a student on the basis of financial need who demonstrates promise in the field of directing for theatre. Academic standing may also be considered. If there is no such student studying directing that qualifies on the basis of financial need, another student with financial needs will be chosen at the discretion of the Director of the Drama Program.

 

Pia Kleber Scholarship
  • Established by Donald Quick and Horst Dantz and various donors.
  • (For Year II/III) - To provide financial support to deserving students in their second or third year of the Drama Program. Up to three scholarships will be awarded in any given academic year on the basis
  • Created by the students, alumni and friends of the Drama Program at UC and endowed by Donald Quick and Horst Dantz, this scholarship is in honour of past Drama Program Director, Pia Kleber.

 

W. J. McAndrew Prize
  • Established by Evelyn McAndrew.
  • (For Any Year) - To be awarded to students in the undergraduate Drama Program who have demonstrated financial need. Academic standing will also be considered.
