Undergraduate Scholarships: Cell & Systems Biology

B. Arthur Bensley Scholarship in Life Sciences
  • Established through a bequest of the late Mrs. Ruth Mo.
  • (For Year III) - An outstanding student in the Specialist or Major Program offered by the Department of Cell and Systems Biology.

 

Dr. Leslie Paul Nyman Scholarship
  • Established through gifts from the family and friends of the late Dr. Leslie Paul Nyman.
  • (For Any Year) - An outstanding undergraduate or graduate student in Plant Biology who is involved in community service activities.  Preference will be given to undergraduate students: if there are no eligible undergraduate students, the scholarship will be awarded to a graduate student. Edward Blake Scholarship in Science
  • Established through a gift of the late Hon. Edward Blake, Chancellor of the University, 1876-1900.
  • (For Year II) - Awarded to a second year student enrolled in a program offered by the Department of Botany or Zoology who has completed three full course equivalents in Biology, Botany, Zoology and/or joint courses with these.  One of the three may be Organic Chemistry or Statistics.

 

F. M. Hill Scholarship in Biology
  • Established by Dr. F. Marguerite Hill.
  • To be awarded to undergraduate students on the basis of financial need.  Academic merit will also be considered.  Award to a student enrolled in a Specialist or Major program in Botany or Zoology who has completed BIO 250Y1.

 

Kenneth C. Fisher Bursary in Zoology
  • Established through the generous donations from friends and colleagues of the late Professor Kenneth C. Fisher, M.A., Ph.D., D.Sc., F.R.S.C., Chairman of the Department of Zoology  (1957-1968).
  • (For Year II/III) - Awarded to a student in a Specialist or Major Program offered by the Department of Cell and Systems Biology who has completed a course in animal physiology (currently ZOO 252Y1).  Financial need must be considered, where academic merit will also be considered.

 

Kenneth C. Fisher Memorial Scholarship in Zoology
  • Established through the generous donations from friends and colleagues of the late Professor Kenneth C. Fisher, M.A., Ph.D., D.Sc., F.R.S.C., Chairman of the Department of Zoology  (1957-1968).
  • (For Year II/III) - Awarded to a student in a Specialist or Major Program offered by the Department of Cell and Systems Biology who has completed a course in animal physiology (currently ZOO 252Y1).  Financial need must be considered, where academic merit will also be considered.

 

Walker Wood Foundation Scholarship in Cell & Systems Biology
  • Established by the Walker Wood Foundation.
  • To be awarded to students who are entering their 2nd year or higher year of study who have graduated from a High School outside of the GTA on the basis of financial need and involvement in extra-curricular activities, i.e. music, leadership, community work. Academic merit will also be considered. Candidates must be enrolled full-time in a specialist or major program offered solely by the Department of Cell & Systems Biology and have maintained a 3.2 GPA.
